Professional indemnity changes for nurses in the private sector

Social welfare line manager, Wendy Cotton, looks into The Heath Care and Associated Professions (Indemnity Arrangements) Order 2014 which came into effect in July 2014. It was drawn up by the Department of Health, the new legislation requires practising regulated healthcare professionals to have professional indemnity insurance.

Health care professionals are required to have indemnity insurance which provides appropriate cover in respect of the risks that may arises in the course of their work to ensure that patients are able to claim compensation they may be entitled to.
