Markel appoints new assistant Trade Credit underwriter in Singapore

Markel International, Singapore, September 16, 2015 --- Markel International, the specialist insurer, has appointed Bennett Wong as assistant trade credit underwriter in its Singapore office.

Bennett joins Markel from United Overseas Bank where, since 2013, he was vice president of the structured trade and commodity finance. Bennett has extensive experience in the banking sector and has worked for Union de Banques Arabes et Francaises and Australia & New Zealand Banking Group in Singapore.

Prior to that, Bennett was a senior analyst for the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singapore where he was responsible for producing country threat assessment reports on political and national security risk developments.

Reporting to Abhishek Chhajer, senior underwriter and head of trade credit in Asia, Bennett will work closely with Linda Naili, who joined the business last year from GE Capital, in building relationships with clients and brokers around the region.  

The Markel trade credit team in Singapore writes business throughout Asia and offers comprehensive non-payment coverage written on an excess of loss, multi-buyer as well as ground-up, specific buyer basis with emphasis on delivering specialist solutions including trade finance insurance products and sovereign default/contract frustration cover.
