Markel recruits Scott Bailey to PFR division to lead emerging risk product drive

Markel International, London, November 26, 2013 --- Markel International, the specialist insurer with a worldwide product portfolio, has appointed Scott Bailey as senior underwriter in its Professional & Financial Risks division (PFR).

Scott will lead the division’s new emerging risk unit, building on his established track record as an underwriter in technology, telecommunications, media and cyber business. His appointment follows the division’s recent launch, in August, of its Privacy, Data-Breach and Electronic Risks (PDE) product.

Scott joins from CNA Insurance, where he was European Underwriting Director for Technology & Cyber and before that a senior underwriter in the same product space at CFC Underwriting. He has also worked as a broker and has some twenty years’ insurance experience.

James Hastings, managing director of Markel’s PFR business, said: “We are delighted that Scott is joining Markel. Scott has a wealth of experience in technology, telecommunications, media and cyber risk. His technical, development and trading skills will be an asset to the division. People can expect to see new and enhanced products from us in 2014. Scott joins us at an exciting time in our development and following other earlier underwriting and claims handling appointments in 2013. This reflects the way we are working to build on our strengths and further develop our capabilities – both in traditional and emerging risk areas.”
